WSWA 73rd Annual Convention & Exposition

 

Las Vegas celebrates the business of beverage and welcomes the return of the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America Convention and Exposition to Caesars Palace bringing together the top talent in the wine and spirits industry. This year’s convention featured a series of exciting speakers and special events, including the introductory keynote speech by renowned journalist David Gregory; tasting competitions and events; hospitality suites; and more.

Also on hand special guest Channing Tatum introducing Born and Bred Vodka. 

This year, WSWA recognized two industry giants: Tito Beveridge and Larry Ruvo. The WSWA Educational Foundation presented Tito Beveridge, founder of Tito’s Handmade Vodka, with the Sidney Frank Award, given annually to a person who has made exceptional industry contributions in addition to noteworthy philanthropy and community service. The award is named for Sidney Frank, a leading innovator who built a number of successful brands and an extraordinary philanthropist.
WSWA also presented the Lifetime Leadership Award to Larry Ruvo, senior managing director of Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada and a 40-year veteran of the industry.

2016 Big Screen Achievement Awards is hosted by Liz Hernandez from Access Hollywood.

Universal Studios Hollywood Takes on the Zombie Apocalypse Announcing a Permanent Walk-Through Attraction Based on AMC’s Award-Winning Series, “The Walking Dead,” Opening Summer 2016 Intense, All-New State-of-the-Art Theme Park Addition Continues Destination’s Ongoing Revitalization

Universal Studios Hollywood brings the most popular show in cable television history to life in Summer 2016 when AMC’s Golden Globe award-nominated television series, “The Walking Dead,” sets up permanent residency at The Entertainment Capital of L.A. in an all-new immersive, cutting-edge attraction.

Universal Studios Hollywood has worked collaboratively with AMC’s “The Walking Dead” for years as a signature “Halloween Horror Nights” maze. This newly enhanced venture will take the highly sought-after experience from a seasonal, limited time offering to an authentic 365 day opportunity, raising the bar for themed walk-through attractions. To further elevate the authenticity of this new attraction, Universal Studios Hollywood is partnering with “The Walking Dead’s” creative team, including visionary executive producer and director, Greg Nicotero and his special effects company, KNB Efx. Greg’s team, responsible for masterfully creating the show’s realistic decaying walkers, will construct prosthetics, utilize original molds and painstakingly apply paint and detailing to the attraction walkers. The integral involvement of the creative team will not only inspire the emotional connection fans experience, it will be among the attraction’s key distinguishing characteristics that will define it as a living version of the show.

“The Walking Dead” attraction will create a no-holds-bar experience that significantly intensifies any other iteration previously developed within the theme park. Coupled with authentic walker make-up effects, sophisticated animatronic walkers, substantially more detailed set design and costuming, and highly recognizable props replicated from the series, the attraction will deliver an uncompromised realistic environment that brings guests even further into the most watched show in cable television history.

The “The Walking Dead” attraction will be located within an entirely new, custom built structure, situated within an expansive building complex just inside the theme park’s main entry.

A new Special Edition of The Complete First Season of Fear the Walking Dead is coming to DVD and Blu-ray
on March 22, 2016 from Anchor Bay Entertainment.
Fear the Walking Dead's first season DVD and Blu-ray was released on December 1st, 2015 in time for holidays, but it fell short on special features.

Victor Frankenstein

A kinda different Frankenstein Version. A Classic Tale of Terror Comes to Life This movie is about the relationship between a mad scientist Victor Frankenstein (James McAvoy) and his hunchbacked assistant Igor Strausman (Daniel Radcliffe). Igor is working as a nameless freak in a circus due to his physical deformity, he is a stranger to kindness until he meets Victor, who recognizes his brilliant mind and vast medical knowledge. Igor is given a new appearance, a new name, and a new life by his generous benefactor, on the condition he work as his partner and assistant, bringing his expertise to animating individual body parts for use in the highly-strung medical student's unholy enterprise. Victor, in his megalomania, as the "creator" of Igor, demands his complete loyalty, something that is easy for the grateful younger man to give until he strikes up a romance with Lorelei (Jessica Brown Findlay), the aerialist he worshiped from afar during his time at the circus. Slowly, he begins to see beyond his unwavering devotion to the disturbed madness of Victor's mania for creating life out of death. As Victor and Igor find themselves being pursued by Inspector Turpin (Andrew Scott), who, as a man is consumed by his religion as Victor is by his rejection of it, refuses to rest until he and his ungodly experiments are brought to an end.
